Arlington Park has a long standing commitment to community involvement and to being a good neighbor. In 2009, Arlington Park will host Community Appreciation Weekends for residents and businesses alike in eight local municipalities - Arlington Heights, Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Wheeling/Prospect Heights, Buffalo Grove, Hoffman Estates and Schaumburg.
"For more than 80 years, Arlington Park has been dedicated to providing an enjoyable and unique experience for all ages of the community," said Arlington Park President Roy Arnold. "Arlington Park has been fortunate to receive such wonderful community support throughout the years. Community Appreciation Weekends is our way of saying thank you."
Each two-day weekend will be highlighted on a Saturday, with an Official Community Appreciation Day when a race will be named for the community honored with that day's trophy presentation following the race made by the mayor of that community. In addition, each community will be represented at the track by various local organizations such as police, fire, and local charities.
Residents and businesses of each community will enjoy free admission their respective weekend when they reserve tickets online at www.arlingtonpark.com. Opening Weekend at Arlington Park honors the first community - Arlington Heights.
